Using Kick Boxing On The Street
Kickboxing can be used for self-defense, even though you don’t learn grappling or ground combat. You will become physically fit and strong, and you will have the techniques and knowledge to read your attacker and respond quickly to an attack. There is a lot more to Kickboxing, not just punching and kicking.
Kickboxing can be useful for street fights because it’s an effective stand-up striking art. Kickboxing is a combination of boxing, karate, and Muay Thai, so it does offer more techniques, and options than many fighting styles offer for a street fight.

Kicks do give more power and range, but they can also be much easier to counter and block, you will have to learn how to apply them correctly. Please remember, you should throw punches before kicks, it’s a street fight and not a sports competition. And learn to judge distance for both of them as well. You will learn this from practice, and sparring with a live sparring partner.

Punching is faster and much more accurate. Punches also don’t leave you off balance. Kicks are more powerful but slower, and have a much better chance of messing up your balance. Kicks have a longer range. Punches are the opposite, they don’t have as much power, they are faster, and at a much closer range. The human punch can generate around 120-150 psi or 360-450 pounds of force in total.

How Much Force Is In A Kick?
Looking at different kicks from different fighting styles, they have found that an expert could generate up to 9,000 newtons with them, equal to around a ton of force. A fast, strong kick will deliver around 3,300 newtons of force and will have a 25 percent chance of cracking an average man’s rib.
The average man is 70-80% stronger than the average woman. So this means that a man’s kick will be 162% more powerful on average. Women are able to kick with a force of 300 to 500 pounds on average, but these numbers will vary as well. Train consistently and your kickboxing skills will serve you well on the street.
