Kids And The Martial Arts

Why kids should start learning martial arts.

The martial arts are a great way to teach kids how to be respectful to others and to focus on defense, instead of offense. By learning to use defensive and offensive body movements, kids will learn to respect their opponents and develop their character at the same time. They will build confidence in themselves by developing a Can – Do attitude. Learning and training in martial arts is a constructive, healthy activity that can help your child in building social skills, improve their behavior, and will build skills that will help them later on in life.

Self Defense

With all the crazy things going on in this world, and all the stupid garbage going on with world politics, especially here in the USA, I believe it is so important for kids to learn how to defend themselves. In many of the states here in the USA, really bad people commit crimes, but they get away with it. The states are adopting this “No Bail” policy. The bad guy commits a crime, is arrested, and then released immediately back out into the public. A smart person would say that this is such a stupid idea, so it makes you wonder what happened to the smart people. Where are they? For this reason, you really have no idea what kind of people are hanging around you or your children.

You need to start teaching your children to be aware of their surroundings at all times. Not to venture out to areas they are not familiar with. Kids should stick to the “Buddy System” and never be alone. Of course, never talk to strangers. Sometimes you have to remind people of the obvious, and teach them common sense. Parents can be forgetful. Even people they know, or are related to, can be dangerous. Parents need to keep their eyes open to this.

Krav Maga For Kids

Krav maga is a good martial art for children. It isn’t just safe; it does a lot of good for their body and mind and lets them know how to solve trouble with the greatest of ease. If you’re looking for a unique, exciting, and rewarding discipline that will teach your kids valuable lessons as they head into the real world, this might be it. Krav Maga’s techniques and training scenarios are designed for real-life threats and situations. It’s not meant to score points with judges or teach students honor and discipline. Instead, the goal is to put your attacker on the ground hard and fast. Anyone between the age of 3 to 80 years old can start learning Krav Maga even if they are completely new to the world of Martial Arts and have never done any type of training before as the very simple movements used to make it possible and easy for anyone to learn. Learning Krav Maga also helps children develop important values like courage, confidence, camaraderie, self-discipline, self-respect, respect for others, and sportsmanship and there are many other benefits that will help to form them into well-balanced individuals as they grow into adulthood. For students who already have a steady experience with Krav Maga, we recommend training at least two or three times a week. With this type of self-defense system, it’s important to keep the body in top physical shape. Skipping training sessions can erase months of hard work.

Jujitsu For Kids

As strange as it might sound to some people, at the age of 4, kids can start their BJJ training, but training at such an early age may cause the child to dislike the sport. According to most experts, a child of 5–6 years is ready to start their training. Jiu Jitsu is a type of martial art that can be taught to kids as young as 5 years. Just like any other form of sport, Jiu Jitsu has numerous benefits for kids. To start with, Jiu-Jitsu is the perfect excuse for your children to exercise. Jujitsu allows them to be physically, emotionally, and psychologically upright. With a proper martial arts program, children start to learn important skills like discipline, resilience, respect for themselves and others, and teamwork… along with all the physical benefits like strength, endurance, coordination, body awareness, and countless others. Respect is one of the most important lessons you learn in jujitsu. To be successful, you must respect your coach, training partners, and opponents. This will help the kids learn to respect their own parents and academic school teachers.

As noted, 3-5 times a week is ideal for most kids and adults. But an important part of your BJJ journey is understanding that not every week, month, or even year will be ideal. Life situations will impact your BJJ journey a lot. Exercise is so important, so if you can’t get it in class, then do it at home. Never neglect a child’s health, and training in Jujitsu is part of a child’s good health.

Jujitsu training does help with ADHD. This is why Wrestling, Grappling, Judo, Jiu-jitsu, and other Martial Arts, and even swimming and track and field make for better options for hyperactive children. Children with ADHD can benefit from sports just as much as their peers who don’t have the condition if not more.

Problem-solving is a major benefit of BJJ and training this skill surely improves the mind overall. BJJ is a great workout that exercises both the mind and body simultaneously and in unison. It unlocks many physical capabilities you never thought you had, and also makes you a more intelligent athlete and fighter.

BJJ focuses on self-defense tactics on the ground, it is an excellent and non-threatening way to deal with bullies. There are a variety of locks and holds your child can use to neutralize a bully without ever throwing a single punch or kick. Jujitsu will give your child more confidence and that is the #1 bully deterrent. Bullies don’t want to pick on confident children, they want easy prey. But besides being confident, they will have the tools to physically defend themselves, and that is very important.
